What I learned: To analyze a disease state by researching the pathophysiology, background, prevalence, diagnosis, and medical nutrition therapy, and then to present a case study to our peers.

 

Reflection to assignment: I learned how to research a single disease state and understand it to the point where I was able to effectively educate my peers about it and answer any questions they had.  Feeling comfortable with public speaking and feeling confident about the research studied is a skill that is important to have within the dietetics profession.

 

Relevance to the profession: In a medical setting, one must be able to effectively collect data and thoroughly understand a disease state in order to return to their colleagues and accurately disseminate that information.
