NFSC 431: Procedure and Procurement
Skill Area: Job Task Analysis
Assignment title: Job Task Analysis
What I learned: A job task analysis is very important because it can be used by management to make sure the employees have completed all of their required tasks and it can also be used to help train new employees. A job task analysis breaks down one large job or task into smaller, more specific steps. Details such as the time a task should be performed, the location in which needed utensils or tools can be found and the tasks performed should all be included. Breaking down a job or task into small more manageable steps allows the job to be performed more efficiently.
Reflection to assignment: This assignment proved to be more difficult than initially expected because all details were to be recorded which included certain things that would normally be overlooked. I realized that nearly every task was able to be broken down further when first analyzed. However, the details are very important especially when using it as a training tool with an employee who is completely unfamiliar with the task at hand.
Relevance to the profession: In food service, an efficient staff is able to work independently and make the best use of their time. A new hire is going to experience a learning curve in any profession and the use of a detailed job task analysis will make the training period less stressful and more streamlined. Having the details listed about a job will also enable to new hire to work independently sooner thereby increasing productivit
