What I learned: This assignment taught me how to locate original research articles with opposing arguments, analyze the strength and weaknesses of both studies and form an argued conclusion in support of one of the articles.
Reflection to assignment: Learning how to read, interpret and analyze research articles is a very important skill to possess since research articles provide the most current information regarding new discoveries within the field of dietetics. Having analyzed the strengths, weaknesses and limitations within the studies, I was able to suggest areas in which further research could be conducted in order to make a more informed and stronger conclusion.
Relevance to the profession: Being able to consolidate multiple original articles, summarize them and form a conclusion is a very important skill for dietetics professional to possess. In addition to being able to interpret and make an accurate conclusion via the data presented, it is also extremely important to have effective written communication skills.
